I have recently joined a function band called 'DAYTONA' which is a 5-piece soul, rock, party band based in and around Yeovil. We are regularly in demand for weddings and parties, featuring male and female vocalists, guitar, keyboards, drums and myself on bass guitar. We will have you dancing and partying all night long with songs from all genres including hits from the 60's right up to the current charts. We are often seen rehearsing and performing at the Westland Conference & Leisure Complex and have recently shared the stage with ‘Doctor and the Medics’ and ‘The Wurzels’. For more information please contact me or visit our band page.
I also sing and play in a duo called ‘UNPLUGGED’. We perform a very stripped down version of pop songs from the 60s to current day, featuring just two voices (male and female) and acoustic guitar. Unplugged is ideal for wedding receptions, family gatherings or events where you just need some background music to give a bit of an atmosphere. For more information please contact me
From an early age I’ve had the opportunity to perform with many different types of music groups and bands. These have included church bands, school bands and the Somerset Youth Orchestra. The first ‘rock n pop’ band I played in was called ‘Touchstones’ and at the age of fourteen I was the youngest member by some twenty years. I enjoyed regular gigging all over the county for several years. I also played with a successful function band called ‘Galaxy’ for nearly ten years. I have performed in several ‘Border Bands’ including the weekly Jam session at Wood's Wine Bar in Yeovil and featured on two CDs released by Border Music. I have also been involved with numerous theatrical productions over the past twenty five years, most recently including ‘Hairspray’ that featured in the Octagon Theatre, ‘Mrs Noah and the flood’ that featured in the Brewhouse Theatre and was also performed in two separate venues in London, and am also looking forward to being part of the band for the upcoming performance of ‘West Side Story’ that is taking place in July 2015 in the Octagon Theatre’.
Performing continues to be an important part of my musical life, playing most days in local schools, visiting various different community groups and functions, and occasionally visiting 'Jam' nights at local venues. I had to opportunity to perform in the Sanctuary Marquee at the 'Glastonbury Festival 2009' as well as writing and performing a song to HRH the Queen during her visit to Sherborne for Her Diamond Jubilee celebrations. Since writing the ‘Queen’s Jubilee’ song, I have written ‘Awesome God’ and ‘Jonah the Groaner’ which are proving to be very popular with young people in the local schools. I am currently working on several new songs, and this is an area that I plan to develop in the future.
I strongly recommend any budding musician to have a go at any of the above, seizing the opportunity to share your musical talents. I believe there is no better way to develop your skills and boost your confidence when learning or trying to master any musical instrument. It's also very good fun, not only for you, but also for your fellow musicians, and for anybody lucky enough to see you perform. Go on, give it a try!
